Puppy classes for the best start 

During the first six months of life dogs grow at an astonishing rate, not simply physically but mentally too. In fact, between the ages of 4 weeks and 4 months puppies enter a rapid learning stage, which sets the stage for their adult behaviour and outlook on life.

Key skills typically covered: 

  • Name to look on reflex soon as puppy hears his/her name or special word.
  • Come when called.
  • Sit to teach 'puppy manners'.
  • Down to promote relaxation and calmness.
  • Stand to aid grooming and veterinary examination.
  • Loose lead walking so puppy won't feel a need to pull while on a lead.
  • Leave objects or other dogs alone.
  • Give toys, stolen objects or forbidden items up when asked.
  • Off stop putting puppy teeth on trouser legs, human skin or objects, etc.
  • Wait to help prevent door dashing or running up to unfriendly dogs/people; to keep puppy safe.
  • Settle teaching puppy to not bother family, when they are busy.
  • You can ask advice on toilet training, chewing, mouthing, jumping up, exercise, nutrition, interactions with children/other dogs and create training and will receive expect guidance in return.
What Else is Covered:
  • Discover how dogs learn, and how you can motivate your puppy to want to pay attention to you, and happily comply with your requests.
  • Learn how to preform trust building exercises in order to examine ears, eyes, teeth, paws and gently restrain your puppy without panic.
  • When suitable, your puppy will have the ability to play in a controlled and safe manner with other puppies in a specially prepared hygienic indoor environment.
  • Your puppy will have the opportunity to meet human beings including any children that maybe present (outside of family members/friends) without being overwhelmed by them.
  • Teach puppy to exercise self-control and develop frustration tolerance, promoting mental wellbeing.
  • Learn how to prevent food and object guarding.
  • You will learn how to read your puppy’s body language, in order to know what messages puppy is conveying to you and other dogs/people.
  • Lots of advice on how to take puppy socialisation on the road, and protecting your puppy from negative experiences, which may limit social development.
  • You will learn how to use positive reinforcement in an effective way.
